Manage Group Permissions

Updated August 23, 2026

Before you begin

Only a group admin can open or change these controls. Changes save individually; there is no final Save button.

iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, and Windows

Open the group.

Open Group Info.

Scroll to the actions and select Group settings.

Change the required switches or Profanity Filter Strictness.

Web

Open the group and Group Info panel.

Select Group permissions.

Change the required controls.

Member permissions

Under MEMBERS CAN:

Edit group settings allows members to edit the name, icon, and description. It does not give them the admin-only permissions panel.

Send new messages allows standard members to send.

Add friends as members allows members to add eligible MYOPL friends.

Invite other people to join allows members to share the current invite link.

Under ADMINS CAN:, Approve new members places invite-link joins into a pending approval queue.

Auto-Moderation

Under AUTO-MODERATION, select:

Off - No Filtering

Flag & Report - Secretly flag content but allow sending

Scrub - Replace bad words with ***

Strict Block - Prevent message from sending entirely

Expected result

Each connected change is saved immediately and affects subsequent group actions or messages.

Offline and failed changes

On the web, MYOPL may show You're offline — showing last known settings. Changes won't save until you reconnect. If there is no cached copy, it shows You're offline — no cached settings available. Select Retry after reconnecting.

An installed app may move a switch before the save completes. If Failed to save appears, reconnect, close Group settings, and reopen it to verify the stored value.

After creating a new group, always open this screen and verify the permissions because creation-time choices may not be retained.
